Lakers Trade Rumors: Latest on Jose Calderon, Steve Blake and More

The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a number of megatrades this summer in order to upgrade their roster, but that hasn’t stopped fans from salivating over any potential rumor still being put out there by the media.

While the franchise is set with its starting five and a number of backups, there are definitely still a few spots that could be upgraded via a preseason trade before the opener against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 30.

Let’s take a look at some of the whispers and buzz concerning possible deals for the Purple and Gold.

 

Blake and Duhon on the Block



Behind prized PG acquisition Steve Nash, the Lakers have two serviceable backups in Steve Blake and Chris Duhon.

However, it seems that the Lakers are willing to part ways with either player as long as an interested party is willing to take on the contracts.

Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that L.A. is attempting to open a spot in the backcourt for Derek Fisher, a longtime Laker guard that most recently spent a postseason with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

While Fisher can’t officially sign with the LakeShow until March 15 of 2013, it’s never too early to start clearing cap space.

 

Calderon Trade Still in the Works?

Jose Calderon told Nacho Duke of Marca.com (translated via Google) in the beginning of October that Toronto Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo informed him that he will be a key trading piece this year.
