The Sharks dropped a 2-1 decision to the Los Angeles Kings at Levi's Stadium, leaving them winless in six straight games and home and now on the outside of the Western Conference playoff picture.
Once again, the National Hockey League created an impressive spectacle for its outdoor game, working with the temperate California climate while creating quality ice conditions and a solid experience for fans in the stadium and watching on television at home.
The only disappointment was the home team's inability to pocket the win. Though the Sharks dominated for a long stretch in the second period, they weren't able to build a lead after scoring their first goal. Ultimately, a slick play by Marian Gaborik early in the third turned into the game-winning goal.
The win was the Kings' seventh straight, and moves them into third place in the Pacific Division while the Sharks drop to fifth, outside the playoff ranks for the moment.
After concluding another chapter of their rivalry in the most unique of settings, the Kings and Sharks will meet one more time this year—in Los Angeles on the final day of the 2014-15 regular season.
Final Score: Los Angeles Kings 2 - San Jose Sharks 1
