Oakland Raiders Fullback Marcel Reece Deserves To Make the Pro Bowl

Marcel Reece was pretty much unknown unless you are a Raiders fan.  He is one of those rare athletes that have that size and speed combination that makes it tough for defenses to match up against.  He played his college ball at Washington, where he was primarily a receiver.  The guy just kept on growing and needed to find a new position to make it in the NFL.

At 6'3" 240 lbs he has the build to play the fullback position.  Before the season he was in a battle for the starting fullback position.  His playmaking ability was on display during the preseason and he ended up earning the one fullback spot on the roster.

In my opinion he has played better than any other fullback in the NFL.  He plays a big role on the Raiders as the lead blocking fullback.  He deserves a lot of credit for Darren McFadden's breakout season as he has been sealing off blockers all season long.

He also has the knack for a big play every now and then.  With two games to play Marcel Reece has rushed 25 times for 112 yards and one TD.  He also has 23 receptions for 331 yards and three touchdowns.

So far this season he has taken advantage of the opportunities he has received on offense.  He has four catches of 20-plus yards and two catches of 50-plus yards, including a 73-yard catch and run.  He also has a 30-yard run this season.

I know those numbers don't really jump out at you, but you have to remember that he plays fullback.  These guys rarely get an opportunity to touch the ball.  He's only got 48 touches this year, but like I said he has taken advantage of his opportunities with over 400 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.

Sounds like a Pro-Bowler to me.  What do you think?
