Hollywood Deals: 10 Most Spectacular Trades in L.A. Lakers History

One of the main reasons the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the NBA's most successful franchises is because of the several remarkable trades that they've made over the years. Acquiring Sedale Threatt prior to the 1991-92 season is a prime example. The Lakers picked up the veteran guard from the Seattle SuperSonics in a trade in which they gave up three future second-round picks. The Lakers hoped that Threatt would come in and play behind superstar point guard Earvin "Magic" Johnson. However, little did they know, that a month later, Johnson would retire (due to contracting HIV), leaving the team's playoff chances in limbo. Fortunately, Threatt went on to average nearly 15 points and seven assists and lead the Lakers to the postseason during his two seasons as the team's starting point guard.
