Wow, really?
Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Sure the Lakers’ season record stands at 40-19, but you just can't count your chickens before they hatch at the Laker farm these days.
What's left of the NBA season will definitely be a test for this Laker squad who seemed to lack a killer instinct the first half of the season. With the second half of the season left, there is no telling of any predictable success for this team like the past two championship seasons.
This season has proven to be quite the tough task with injuries and new players learning the system.
Many Lakers fans hoped to see a trade take place, though it never happened. Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak was rumored to say that he didn’t expect to make any changes.
What the Lakers needed before the trading deadline was a point guard. Deron Williams is gone to New Jersey and the speedy Aaron Brooks is now in Phoenix. Both players, in my opinion, would’ve fit well with the team.
Fish and Blake aren't getting it done, and Lakers fans know it. The rest of the team has a fine balance to it, but not the point guard position.
Kobe Bryant brought his A-game these past two games. Thing is, can the rest of the team do the same for the remainder of the season? I wouldn’t worry just yet, but I sure wouldn’t be overly confident either.
I’ll worry come playoff time.
Making it to the playoffs may or may not be a walk in the park for this team this season. But once the first round kicks in, I believe this Lakers unit will come alive.
The Lakers take on the 21-37 Clippers in Los Angeles on Friday and hope to keep this two-win momentum going.
