The Buffalo Bills have established a clear identity and proven what kind of team they are. Offensively, Kyle Orton's job is to not lose the game. If he makes some plays, fine. If he gets the offense into the end zone, great. But first and foremost, his job is to avoid major mistakes.
The Bills are perfectly fine with relying on their defense—one of the NFL's best—and on the occasional big play from special teams to win games. This makes Oakland's game plan obvious.
The Raiders have to tighten things up on special teams, particularly in kick coverage. Avoiding big returns and, of course, returns for touchdowns will greatly limit the success of the Buffalo offense by not giving up good field position.
The offense has to not force plays and be methodical in its approach. It has to commit to the run for four quarters given that the the Buffalo defense, as good as it is, will give up yards on the ground.
Defensively, Oakland has to play with the clear understanding that the Bills offense isn't going to make plays so much as take advantage of the opportunities that the defense gives it. Discipline will go a long way against a Buffalo offense that lacks explosiveness.
The question is whether the Oakland coaches will take advantage of the opportunities presented. We'll find out Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET live from O.co Coliseum. Follow along for live scores and updates all game long. And make sure to join the conversation in the comments section below.
